COVID -19 pandemic is obstructing research institutes and universities around the world. However, the same institutes are working hard to control the spread of the virus and its effects on people. Our team, at iTM, is also showing its support by providing near real-time data about the spread of the deadly virus. It’s difficult and quite challenging to work under such a situation but our teams have never learned to step back and are working on the project from home. Even in a crucial time, we framed a data dashboard on the Coronavirus COVID-19 effect globally, that tells a story from start till date.
“We pull and update data from reliable sources which are updated at near real-time.“
Let’s give you a brief about the chart through the pointers mentioned below:
This chart will guide you with the data of the confirmed cases, recovered cases, active cases, and reported deaths. By looking at the rank chart you can visualize countries where COVID- 19 spread is increasing.
This is a multi-dimensional chart, where you can correlate. New cases can be figured out by looking at the X-axis and deaths at Y-axis. Take an example, like, select any bubble (any Country) and by doing so you can figure out, total new cases, total deaths, total confirmed cases according to the selected date.
On your window you can see the world map, right? Now you can select any country and have a look at their area and know the value of the COVID-19 cases.
You can figure out by looking at the numbers and dates and compare them, accordingly.
Below are some points which will help you know about the COVID-19 virus. Many must be aware of it already. So, here are some, if you’re not aware of it.
The Pandemic of the Twenty-First Century
COVID- 19 was declared a rife by WHO on March 11, 2020. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention(CDC) of the USA has also warned of the outbreak and has asked people to avoid public meetings, public life for the welfare of the citizens. Day by day the number of people dying is increasing all across the world, and one should worry as the ratio is at an alarming 5:1 ratio. Which means 20% of infected people are losing their life.
How Does COVID-19 Spread?
This virus is quite contagious like all other viral diseases. The virus blooms on surfaces like taps, rods, handles, doorknobs and is communicated when an infected patient exhales sneezes or coughs. The biggest risk is when you touch your own eyes, mouth, nose, after touching an infected surface.
NOTE- The virus doesn’t spread through the air you breathe in, but from the surface on which the virus may have landed.
How to Protect Yourself from the Virus
Here’s a comparison between coronavirus, SARS, and the annual U.S. public flu in years 2018/2019 these parameters:
|Transmissibility Rate||Case-fatality ratio|
|2.0 – 3.1||~ 3%|
|Annual Flu||1.3 – 1.8||~ 0.1 %|
|SARS||2.0 – 4.0||~ 10%|
Maintain Social and Safe Distance
Avoid close contact with people, not only with them who’s showing the symptoms like sneezing and coughing. Keep a distance of three feet whoever comes on your way. Greet peep with Namaste, rather than shaking hands. Wear a mask and gloves. Go into quarantine and spend, #me time with yourself.
Most Crucial Thing
Stay positive, calm and ignore all rumors. Don’t stock essentials unnecessarily. If you’re facing any respiratory distress, fever, or sneezing dozen times, rush to the doctor and request for a test.
